there were 4656 people at a concert.after 4/5 of the men and 3/4 of the women left the concert, there were 120 more women than men who remained. How many more women than men were there at first.

x+y=4656
number of women is 4656-x
after 3/4 leave, 1/4 remain, which is 1164-(1/4)x. That comes from (1/4)(4656-x) and distributing.
That minus 120 equals the number of men, which is now 0.2x
Therefore 144-(1/4)x=0.2x, setting them equal and subtracting the 120 from the women to make them equal.
1044=0.45x; x=2320 men
2336 women. There were 16 more women at first. ANSWER
Check
80% of men leaving means 1856 men left and there are 464 left
75% of women left means 584 are left, and that is 120 more than 484.
