Question 1047322: The function f is defined by f(x)=3x^2+4x
Find f(4n)
---------------------------------------------------
f(4n)=3(4n)^2+4(4n)
What I did is: 3((4n)(4n))+4(4n)
3(16+4n+4n+n^2)+4(4n)
48+12n+12n+3n^2+16n
48+24n+3n^2+16n
But I also did this:12n^2+4(4n)
12n^2+16n
I am not sure which answer is correct. I believe what
confuses me is the question if whether I should factor out 3(4n)^2
For example: 3(4n)^2= 3((4n)(4n)) =3(16+4n+4n+n^2)
I know I should simplify but the exponent confuseso me.
Please help me solve the problem.
