Question 1047248: True or False. Suppose the minimum for a data set is 12. A careless assistant records it as 1.2, which is the only mistake in the record keeping. The mistake will change the mean as well as the median of the data set.
I feel this is true since the number is way off from what it is supposed to be. Answer by ewatrrr(24785) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The error will effect the mean = the sum of the data / the number of data
However: The middle number (in a sorted list of numbers) is the median
(the mistake in recording the smallest number will NOT effect what that middle number is)
The mistake will change the mean as well as the median of the data set.
