3%28x-7%29 Start with the given expression


3%2Ax-3%2A7 Distribute 3 to each term in the parenthesis. In other words, multiply 3 by x and by -7


3x-21 Multiply -3 and 7 to get -21


So 3%28x-7%29=3x-21

note: in the previous problem 3%28x-6%29=3x-18 notice that 3 is multiplied by x and -6 to get 3x and -18
