Question 1046862: I'm having quite a bit of trouble understanding this question on my homework. Can someone help me out?
The graph shows the sales (in millions of dollars) of Peet's Coffee & Tea from 2000 through 2008. Let f(x) represent the sales in year x.
a) Find (f(2008) - f(2000) )/ (2008 - 2000) and interpret the results in the context of the problem.
b) An approximate model for the function is S(t) = 2.48t2 + 5.71t + 84.0 where 0 ≤t ≤8
where S is the sales (in millions of dollars) and t = 0 represents 2000. Complete the table and compare the results with the data in the graph.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! The graph shows the sales (in millions of dollars) of Peet's Coffee & Tea from 2000 through 2008. Let f(x) represent the sales in year x.
a) Find (f(2008) - f(2000) )/ (2008 - 2000) and interpret the results in the context of the problem.
I used the equation (below) and found f(2008) = 10 million; f(2000) = 9.93 mill.
Ans: 0.07/8 = $0.00875 million = $8750
---------
b) An approximate model for the function is S(t) = 2.48t^2 + 5.71t + 84.0 where
0 ≤ t ≤8 where S is the sales (in millions of dollars) and t = 0 represents 2000. Complete the table and compare the results with the data in the graph.
