Question 1046342: What would be the landing speed of the 64 km/h plane landing in a headwind of 64 km/h ? Found 2 solutions by solver91311, ikleyn:Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
Depends on how high the aircraft was at the instant the horizontal velocity of the plane became equal to the opposite of the velocity of the wind. As soon as these two values are equal in magnitude, the horizontal velocity of the aircraft is zero and there is no longer any airflow over the wings to generate lift. At that moment the aircraft would fall straight down and the velocity, in feet per second at impact would be
where is the height of the aircraft at the moment the aircraft and headwind velocity magnitudes became equal. Example, if the airplane is 4 feet off the ground, it would hit at 16 feet per second or about 10 miles per hour. If it was 100 feet off the ground it would hit at 80 feet per second, or about 55 miles per hour -- probably with fatal results.

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
You can put this solution on YOUR website! .
What would be the landing speed of the 64 km/h plane landing in a headwind of 64 km/h ?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I believe that the landing speed of 64 km/h is the plane speed relative the ground, by definition.
Then the answer is contained directly in the input.
