Question 1045341: This homework should be viewed as an individual effort but if needed ask your IA for help. Earth scientists make graphs of data to analyze natural processes. The most common plot is the x-y graph (the horizontal axis is for x values, vertical axis for y values). In class lectures we will usually examine graphs that have time on the xaxis, and some other value on the y-axis. This is called a time series. We use time series to see how some variables change over long or short time intervals. Since we will be using graphs a lot in our lecture we should become familiar with them. Here, for example, we will plot the rabbit population of a hypothetical rabbit colony as a function of time. Assume the rabbits are in a closed, protected area and there are no rabbit predators. Assume the rabbits are free to reproduce, the rabbits live for 6 years, each pair of rabbits produces 5 male and 5 female bunnies each year. Start with 4 pairs of rabbits; so on year 0 we have 4 pairs or 8 rabbits. On year 1 we have (4x10)+8 rabbits. On year 2 we have (24x10)+48 rabbits and so on……. This is an example of exponential growth. Keep in mind that worldwide the human population is described as growing exponentially.
1. How many rabbits are there on year 4 (write answer here)?_________________________ (2 points) Show your work on the back of this page, no work no credit here or below. hello I'm trying to find Exponential Growth in a rabbit could your tell me if I'm doing this correct. I'm already given year one and two but I have to find 3 and 4.
(4x10)+8
(24x10)+48
(144x10)+288
(864x10)1728 and I have to do this all the way to 6 and then I have to plot it on the hw sheet. Help Please Answer by ikleyn(52776) (Show Source):
