Question 1044764: if the width. of a rectangle is 2 centimeters more than one half is length and its perimeter is 43 centimeters. what is the dimension of the rectangle?
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi there,
Make length = 'x'.
Width then = (2 + x/2)
Perimeter = 2(length) + 2(width)
43 = 2(x) + 2(2 + x/2)
Multiply out
43 = 2x + 4 + x
Collect like terms.
2x + x = 43 - 4
3x = 39
x = 13.
Length = 13 centimetres
width = 8.5 centimetres.
Hope this helps :-)
