Question 1044266: Write an equation in slope intercept form satisfying the given conditions (Please?):
The line passes through (2,6) and is perpendicular to the line whose equation is x + 2y = 3.
So far I have:
2y = x + 3
y = (1/2)x + (3/2)
slope is +2
y=6
6= 2(2) + b
6 = 4 + b
2 = b
equation y = 2(x) + 2

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x + 2y = 3
:
y = -x/2 + 3/2
:
The slope of a line perpendicular to y = -x/2 + 3/2 is 2
:
so far we have
:
y = 2x + b
:
we have the point (2,6), therefore
:
6 = 2(2) + b
:
b = 2
:
************
y = 2x + 2

You are correct :-)
