You can put this solution on YOUR website!
lee withdre $200 from his account. he asked to bank clerk to give the money to him only in $5 and $10. if he received twoo more $10 than $5s how many bills did he receive in all... i know that he got 14 tens and 12 5s but how do i write this as a "let x =" problem and answer
--------------------
Let "x" be the number of $5 bills; value of this is 5x dollars
----------------------------
Then "x+2" is the number of 10$ bills: value of these is 10(x+2)=10x+20 dollars
---------------------------
EQUATION:
value + value = $200
5x + 10x+20 = 200
15x = 180
x = 12 (# of $5 bills)
x+2 = 14 (# of $10 bills)
