Question 1042576: Hello,
I need help with the following math problem:
Given +R%28-6%2C+19%29+ and +S%2815%2C-5%29+, what are the coordinates of the point on segment +RS+ two-thirds of the distance from +R+ to +S+?
Thank you,
Nicole

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the x distance from R to S.
Find the y distance from R to S.
Then break up the length in 2/3 and 1/3.
X distance : %2815-%28-6%29%29=21.
%282%2F3%2921=14, %281%2F3%2921=7
Y distance : (-5-19)=-24.
%282%2F3%29%28-24%29=-16, %281%2F3%29%28-24%29=-8.
So you can start from R and add (2/3) of the distance or start at S and subtract (1/3) distance.
You'll get the same answer.
I'll start at R.
X%5BP%5D=+-6%2B14=8
Y%5BP%5D=19-16=3
