You can put this solution on YOUR website! A, B, C, and D invest $s. B invests m times as much as A, C as much as A and B combined, and D as much as C and B combined.
Determine amount each invests.
A invests x amount of money.
B invests mx;
C invests mx+x;
D invests (mx)+(mx+x)=2mx+x.
The sum of their investments is stated as s dollars.
Solve this for x but it will be IN TERMS OF s.
Substitute x into the individual investment amounts already listed and simplify.

Let amount A invests be A
Then amount B invests = mA
Amount C invests = A + mA
Amount D invests = mA + A + mA, or 2mA + A
We then get: A + mA + A + mA + 2mA + A = s
3A + 4mA = s
A(3 + 4m) = s
A, or amount A invests =
