You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the value of b when the arithmetic mean of b+2 and 4b+5 is 3b+2
The 'arithmetic mean' is just the 'ordinary average'.

So we add b+2 and 4b+5, divide by 2, and set it equal to 3b+2:

%28%28b%2B2%29%2B%284b%2B5%29%29%2F2%22%22=%22%223b%2B2

Multiply both sides by 2 to clear the fraction:

%28b%2B2%29%2B%284b%2B5%29%22%22=%22%222%283b%2B2%29

Can you simplify that and solve for b?

If not, tell me in the thank-you note form below and I'll get
