Question 1040606: I'm using barron's e-z pre-algebra. page 170 they have a slope/ y-intercept function: 2y=10x-8. I have to get the y alone. However, their answer is y=-2x+5.
For the life of me, I can't figure how to come to that answer. Is this just a mistake in the book? Or can you help me to see this answer?
P.S. how do I access the "thank you form"?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Check the problem and the answer very carefully, as often one looks at the wrong answer by mistake.
IF the function is 2y=10x-8, dividing by 2, the slope-intercept form is y=5x-4. It can be nothing else.

That is definitely not the answer to that question. Can you snapshot the problem on that page (170), and also the page with the answer.
I'll be better able to help you then.
