Question 1040536: The linear function C(t)=p+ant models the cost for four college sophomores to purchase a car and gasoline for a three-year period. In this function, t is the number of years, p is the purchase price of the car, a is the average cost of gasoline per gallon, and n is the average number of gallons purchased per year.If p=$29.000,a=$3.85 per gallon,and n=832 gallons per year, what is the cost(to the nearest dollar)for each student during the three years of ownership?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! To understand the problem think about you need a car
Price of the car = 1000
You need gas price of gas 2 dollars per gallon
Every year you need 10 gallons
And you drive the car for three years
The total cost of transportation for you is
1000 + 100*2*3 = 1600 is the total cost for you for 3 years
Now we go back to the problem
Cost = 29000+ 3.85*832*3
This is the cost of transportation if one person buys the car and drives to school by himself/herself. All fours students can get together and buy the car and share everything. In that case we divide the total cost by 4. The problem didn't tell us exactly what kind of arranemt they have. If they agreed to share the cost them we divide the number by 4 to see the cost for each of the students.
