You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x and y be the two unknown numbers. We don't know what x is and we don't know what y is. But we do know what x*y (x times y) is: it is 1218.
So,
x*y = 1218
keep this in mind
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We're told that "Each of the two numbers are doubled" so x turns into 2*x. Also, y turns into 2*y
Multiply 2x and 2y to get (2x)*(2y) = (2*2)*(x*y) = 4*(x*y)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After we double the unknown numbers, and multiply the results, we end up with 4*(x*y)
Let's replace the x*y with 1218 (see above)
4*(x*y) = 4*1218 = 4872
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The final answer is 4872
