3^x = 5 Let's take the log of both sides
log(3^x) = log5
using log properties
xlog3 = log5
x = log5/log3
Using calculator to find log of 5 you get .7
Using calculator to find log of 3 you get .47
Now we divide these two numbers .7/.47 = 1.49 or approximately 1.5
We know that 1.5<8/5 since 8/5 = 1.6
1.5<1.6
