Question 1039052: I would very appreciate of any help you can offer! I'm having difficulty w/ this problem that illustrates two graphs and asks the following questions:
Graph A has x intercepts of about -1.5 and 1.5 with a y intercept of -1, but also has two points below the x axis of (-1, -3) and (1, -2) approximately.
Graph B has x intercepts of -2, .5, 2, 3 and 5.5. y intercept of -1 and points of approximately (-2, -6), (1,.5), (2.5, -.5), (5, 5)
I'm asked:
Is the degree of the polynomial odd or even?
Is the leading coefficient of the polynomial positive or negative?
How many real number zeros are there?
I would really appreciate any help you can offer, thank you!

With just that bare amount of information, the shape makes W, suggesting two local minimums and one local maximum between them.
DEGREE HUMP
1 0
2 1
3 2
4 3
Three max or mins, three "humps"; so degree 4. This is EVEN.
Increases to the left as x tends toward infinity and increases to the right as x tends toward infinity. This means lead coefficient is positive.
Two x-intercepts described, so TWO REAL ZEROS.
