Question 1038622: Ashley, Brian, Caroline, David and Elaine are all different ages.
The sum of their ages is 110.
Ashley is the oldest and David is the youngest at 19.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A+B+C+D+E=110
David is 19, Ashley is the oldest.
110/5=22, the mean. That is Caroline
Brian is younger than Caroline, and he is the middle in the group.
Therefore,
D+E+B+C+A is the order
19+E+B+22+A=110
The median age must be less than 22.
If I use integers, B must be 21, the median, and E must be 20. There are no other possibilities. That makes Ashley's 28.
D+E+B+C+A=19+20+21+22+28
If age can be expressed as a fraction, then B < 22 and 19 B and E could be as little as slightly greater than 19 each, with B more. That would make Ashley's slightly less than 31.
Alternatively, B and E could be slightly less than 22, with B greater than E. That would make Ashley's slightly more than 25.
