Question 1037167: hi there, I really need help :(
My question is as follows:
sketch the graph of the given function, f(x) = x − 2 over 3. State the domain of the function, identify any intercepts and test for symmetry.
I really appreciate any help, thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
f(x) = (x-2) / 3
:
Here is the graph of the line
:
+graph%28+300%2C+200%2C+-10%2C+10%2C+-10%2C+10%2C+%28x-2%29+%2F+3%29+
:
The domain is all real numbers
:
The x intercept is 2 and the y intercept is -2/3
:
1) symetry about the x axis means if (a,b) is on the graph then (a,-b) is on the graph
2) symetry about the y axis means if (a,b) is on the graph then (-a,b) is on the graph
3) symetry about the origin means if (a,b) is on the graph then (-a,-b) is on the graph
:
Now we test our function
:
(8,2) is on our graph, since (8-2) / 3 = 2
1) is (8,-2) on the graph, -2 = (x-2) / 3 then x = -4
No symetry about the x axis
:
2) is (-8,2) on the graph, y = (-8-2) / 3 = -10/3
No symetry about the y axis
:
3) is (-8,-2) on our graph
No symetry about the origin
