$x is divided among three boys, Ryan, Keith and Andrew in the ratio 2:3:7 respectively. If Andrew gets $15 more than Keith, what is the value of x? Answer by Aldorozos(172) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The answer is $45
Keith gets 11.25 Andrew gets $15 more which is 26.25 and Ryan gets 7.5
There are different ways to calculate $45.
One way is to think about the ratio of the money that Andrew gets with respect to Keith which is Andrew/Keith = 7/3 = (K+15)/K If we use cross multiply we get 7k= 3k+45 solving this gives us k=11.25 this is what Keith gets.
We know Andrew gets $15 more therefore 11.25 + 15 = 26.5
Te ration of Keith/Ryan is 3/2 = 11.25/R using cross multiplication we get R = 7.5. We we add 11.25 and 26.25 and 7.5 we get 45
