Question 1035881: a school is building a rectangular soccer field that has an area of 6000 square yards. the length of the soccer field must be 40 yards longer than its width. determine algebraically the dimensions of the soccer field, in yards. Answer by jorel555(1290) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! If the width is w, the length is w+40, thus:
(w)(w+40)=6000
w^2+40w=6000
w^2+40w-6000=0
(w+100)(w-60)=0
w=-100 or 60
If the soccer field is 60 X 100 yards in size, then it will be 6000 square yards in total area!!!!!!!!!!
