Question 1035841: 2 ladders are leaning against a tree. The first ladder is 18ft long and, is 7ft away from the tree forming a 30' angle. The second ladder is 24 feet long, and also forms a 30' angle. How many feet away from the tree is the second ladder? Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi there,
The second ladder is 24 feet long
It forms a 30 degree angle.
By using the cos ratio the distance
from the tree can be found.
cos = adjacent (ground distance from tree)
divided by ladder length.
cos(30) = adjacent/24 feet
Distance from tree = cos(30) x 24
Distance from tree = 20.8 feet (1 decimal places)
Hope this helps :-)
