You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi there,
When 10 Is Subtracted From Three Times
the Sum Of A Number And 4 , The Result
Is 3 Less Than That Number.
Make x = the number.
3(x + 4) - 10 = x - 3
3x + 12 - 10 = x - 3
Collect like terms:
3x - x = -3 - 12 + 10
2x = -5
x = -5/2 or -2.5
Proof:
3(x + 4) - 10 = x - 3
3(-5/2 + 4) - 10 = -5/2 - 3
3(3/2) - 10 = -5/2 - 6/2
9/2 - 10 = -11/2
9/2 - 20/2 = -11/2
-11/2 = -11/2
Hope this helps :-)
