Question 1035387: A cargo plane left an airport at noon and flew toward New york at the average rate of 400 miles per hour. at 2pm, a passenger plane left the same airport for newyork and flew the same route as the cargo plane at the average rate of 560 miles per hour. How many miles did the passenger plane fly before it overtook the cargo plane? Answer by jorel555(1290) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The cargo plane leaves at noon, which gives it a 2 hour headstart, which is equivalent to 800 miles. So if h is hours flying, then;
400h+800=560h
800=160h
h=5
How many miles did the passenger plane fly in 5 hours?
560(5)=2800 miles before it overtakes the cargo plane!!!!!!
