At 1:00 pm Mrs. Fanelli tells Joey and Marcy that they can play miniature golf if they get the chores done(properly!). Joey usually takes 5 hrs to do the chores, and Marcy does them in 4 hrs. If they work together, how long will it take them to do the job? If the course closes at 5:00 pm and it takes 14 mins to drive there, how long will they have to play?

Joey rate:: 1/5 job/hr
Marcy rate:: 1/4 job/hr
Together rate:: 1/x job/hr
----
rate + rate = together rate
(1/5) + (1/4) = 1/x
(4+5)/20 = 1/x

9/20 = 1/x

x = 20/9 = 2 hr 13 min (time to do the job together)

If the course closes at 5:00 pm and it takes 14 mins to drive there, how long will they have to play?
