You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the ratio of fionas savings to Fredas savings is 2 to 5.if fiona has 1200 dollars, how much must freda give to her so that they each have the same amount of money.
-------
2:5 is the same as 2x:5x
--------------
Fiona has 2x
Fredas has 5x
-----
Equation:
2x + 5x = 1200
7x = 1200
x = 171.43
------
Fiona has 2x = 2*171.43 = 342.86
Fredas has 5x = 5*171.43 = 857.15
-----
Note: If each has $600 they will have equal amounts.
Fredas should give 857.15-600 = 257.15 to Fiona
-----
Cheers,
Stan H.
