Question 1034171: the length of a rectangle is 2 inches more than twice its width,and its perimeter is 60 inches. find the length and width of the retangle
if w= the width of the rectangle, then the length equals_______ Answer by fractalier(6550) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Perimeter P = 60 = 2L + 2W
We can also write
L = 2W + 2
Now plug that in to the above and get
60 = 2(2W + 2) + 2W
60 = 4W + 4 + 2W
6W + 4 = 60
6W = 56
W = 56/6 = 28/3 inches
so that
L = 2(28/3) + 2 = 62/3 inches
