You can put this solution on YOUR website! They would like to raise $3150 every night to cover the costs and to raise some money.
Adult tickets sell for $7.50 and students are $4.50.
If all 500 seats in the auditorium are filled, how many of each ticket would have to be sold to raise exactly $3150?
:
let a = no. of adult tickets required
There will be 500 seats, therefore:
(500-a) = no. of student tickets
:
7.50a + 4.50(500-a) = 3150
7.50a + 2250 - 4.50a = 3150
7.50a - 4.50a = 3150 - 2250
3a = 900
a = 900/3
a = 300 adult tickets
:
You can find the number of student tickets, check the totals equal 3150
