I'm not sure what this question is asking. Can you point me in the right direction.

(2a+b)+(a-b)=3a one of the numbers of a the binomial has to be added to its inverse to obtain a monomial.
(a+b)+(b+c)=a+2b+c one and only one new variable must be introduced to obtain a trinomial.
