i tried it this way
Mr.x and Mr.y can be arranged among themselves in 2! ways.This can happen 6 times as there are six seats.
it means
no. of ways=2!*2!*2!*2!*2!*2!=32
but the correct answer is 30

Then Mr.Y can occupy any of remained 5 seats.
Numbers of ways is 6*5 = 30.
