You can put this solution on YOUR website! If it takes Ron to do a job alone in 3 days and his assistant 6 days alone, how many days would it take them if they did it together?
-----------
Ron DATA:
Time = 3 day/job ; Rate = 1/3 job/day
--------------------------
Assistant DATA:
Time = 6 day/job ; Rate = 1/6 job/day
--------------------------
Together DATA:
Time = x days/job ; Rate = 1/x job/day
------------------------------------
EQUATIOn:
rate + rate = rate together
1/3 + 1/6 = 1/x
Multiply thru by 6x to get:
2x + x = 6
3x = 6
x = 2 days (time to do the job together)
