You can put this solution on YOUR website! write a cosine function, f(x), such that on one period a local maximum is at (-pi/3, 1) followed by a local minimum at (2pi/3, -7).
---------------
Amplitude = |1 - (-7)|/2 = 4
Center of 1 & -7 = -3 --> vertical offset of -3
From -pi/3 to 2pi/3 is 1/2 the period = pi --> period = 2pi
Offset = shift from the max = -pi/3
============
--> f(x) = 4cos(x + pi/3) -3
