Hi there,
Imagine your problem involves
a right angled triangle.
The pole is the hypotenuse
How high up the wall is the opposite side
How far is the foot of the pole
from the wall is the adjacent side
Using trig ratios:
To find height up wall:
sin = opposite/hypotenuse
sin (60) = opposite/ 15
Opposite = 15 x sin(60)
Opposite = 12.99 m (2 decimal places)
This is how high up the wall the end of the pole is.
cos = adjacent/hypotenuse
cos(60) = adjacent/ 15
Adjacent = 15 x cos(60)
Adjacent = 7.5 m
This is the distance between the foot
of the pole and the wall.
Hope this helps :-)
