You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Of 32 students in a class, 28 passed. What percentage of the students passed?
--------------
28/32 = x/100
7/8 = x/100
x = (7/8)100
x = 7*12.5 = 87.5
--------------------
Solution: 28/32 = 87.5%

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
All percentage problems contain three elements. They are rate, amount,and base.
The rate is the percentage.
The base is the whole quantity of whatever you are dealing with.
An easy way to identify the base is to ask your self "Percent of what?"
The amount is the a part of the whole quantity.
The relationships of these three elements gives us three equations to use when solving percentage problems.
amount=%28base%29%28rate%29
rate=%28amount%29%2F%28base%29
base=%28amount%29%2F%28rate%29
So now lets look at the question:
Of 32 students in a class, 28 passed. What percentage of the students passed?
We want to find percentage so we will use this equation:
rate=%28amount%29%2F%28base%29
The amount is 28 and the base is 32
so lets plug those numbers into the formula
rate=28%2F32
rate=0.875
now to convert the decimal number to a percentage just multiply by 100
100 * 0.875 = 87.5%
Answer: 87.5% of the students passed.
