Question 1027398: Good morning helpful tutors,
I have a word problem which is in the factoring polynomials chapter of McDougal Littell Algebra 1 Copyright 2001 book, page 614, problem #4. Here it is: The sum of a number and its square is zero. Write and solve an equation to find numbers that fit this description. I tried this: x^2 + x = 0 but it made no sense. Please help! Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x^2 + x = 0 (That's what it says)
x*(x + 1) = 0
x = 0
x = -1
