You can put this solution on YOUR website!
q, d, n, quarters dimes nickels;

system%280.25q%2B0.1d%2B0.05n=1.00%2Cq%2Bd%2Bn=12%29

5q%2B2d%2Bn=20

You have really just two equations but three unknown variables. The most restrictive variable would be q for quarters. You know the quantity could only be from 1 to 3, so just try those different values and solve for d and n.

Answer: 2 quarters, 1 dime and 8 nickels.

Check:  1) 2 + 1 + 8 = 11;  2) 2*25 + 1*10 + 8*5 = 100.

The method: Trial and error. Start with quarters.
