The shape of the curve looks like it is the right shape for the set of plotted points of the data. Just the curve is not in the best position. This should not be a matter of choosing any better or different factor k.
Make the model adjustment according to g%28x%29=f%28x%29%2B6, ..... You want some new function, g(x).
