Question 1025011: Horace is going to roll a standard number cube and flip a coin. He wonders if it is more likely that he rolls a 5 and the coin lands on heads, or that he rolls a 5 or the coin lands on heads. Which event do you think is more likely to happen? Find the probability of both events to justify or reject your initial prediction. Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
The probability of rolling a 5 AND getting a head is the product of the two independent probabilities.
The probability of rolling a 5 OR getting a head is the complement of rolling anything other than a 5 AND getting a tail. The probability of 5 and Tail is the product of the two independent probabilities.
