Make A the subject of the formula
Assume the equation is:
P=%28n%5E2%2Ba%29%2F%28n%2Ba%29
:
multiply both sides by (n+a)
P(n + a) = n^2 + a
;
Distribute the P
Pn + Pa = n^2 + a
:
Subtract Pn from both sides, subtract a from both sides
Pa - a = n^2 - Pn
:
Factor out a
a(P - 1) = n^2 - Pn
:
Divide both sides by (P-1)
a = %28n%5E2+-+Pn%29%2F%28P+-+1%29
