Question 102469: My son has to write (1) inequalities/ solve/ and graph it I do not remember how to do this so I do not know how to help him I beleive that /x-3/ =5 and
/x-15/< 5 are both examples of inequalities and I beleive this is what she means by he is to write his own but I do not remember how you graph or solve the problem. Any help to reteach me would be helpful. Thank you

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
|x-3| =5
The x-3 must be 5 or -5.
If x-3 =5 then x = 8
If x-3=-5 then x = -2
-----------
Solution: x=8 or x=-2
-------------------------
Graph:
graph(400,300,-10,10,-10,10,abs(x-3)=5
====================================================
|x-15|< 5
This means
-5 < x-15 > 5
Add 15 along the line to get:
10 < x < 15
======================================
Comment: Since there is one variable this can be graphed
on a number line. Draw a line. Label some point as
10 and some point to he right of it as 15
Draw a circle around each of those points.
Draw a heavy line between the two points.
That is the graph you want.
