Question 10246: Hi Tutors:
I really appreciate your help. However, I have not been able to get help with this problem I have posted about three times. Perhaps the fourth time will be a charm. Here goes. Please help me solve this problem by setting it up into an algebraic equation. "The width of a rectangle is fixed at 16yd. For what lengths will the area be at least 264yd squared?" Answer by prince_abubu(198) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! You know that the area of the rectangle is length * width. So far, you know for sure that the width is 16 yards, and you don't know L. You also know that you want the area to be AT LEAST 264 square yards. This means that you want the area to be greater than or equal to 264 square yards.
<---- Start here.
<----- Your length has to be 16.5 yards or longer to ensure that your area will be at least 264 square yards.
