Question 1024455: Please Help../ Thanks show steps
The pH scale for acidity is defined by pH=−log10[H+] where [H+] is the concentration of hydrogen ions measured in moles per liter (M).
(A) The pH of human blood is 7.4. Calculate the concentration of hydrogen ions in moles per liter (M).
[H+]= M
(B) The pH of lemon juice is 2.0. Calculate the concentration of hydrogen ions in moles per liter (M).
[H+]= M

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
We use the definition of logarithms for A and B
:
A) 7.4 = -log (base 10) H+
note multiply both sides of = by -
-7.4 = log (base 10) H+
H+ = 10^-(7.4)
H+ = 0.00000004 moles per liter
:
B) 2 = -log (base 10) H+
-2 = log (base 10) H+
H+ = 10^-2
H+ = 0.01 moles per liter
