Question 1024334: Rate Increase: A student reader is making $5.90 per hour and gets a $0.42 raise. What is the percent increase? (Round to the nearest tenth of a percent.)
What is the formula to solve this?
Why am I getting it wrong?
To solve, do you: x over 5.90 = .42 over 100% Cross multiply and divide? Answer I got was 0.02478. add that to the base pay of 5.90 and that's the percent increase which is 5.92478. Rounded to nearest 10th would be: 5.9 percent increase. Is this right, if not please tell me why and show why it's not. Please be specific! Thank you! Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source):
