Hi there,
Two trains traveling at 80 and 60mph respectively.
80:60 = 4:3
4 + 3 = 7
4/7 x 196 = 112 miles
3/7 x 196 = 84 miles
Time = Distance/Speed
Time = 112/80 = 1.4 hours
Time = 84/60 = 1.4 hours
It will take 1 hour 24 minutes
for the trains to be 196 miles apart.
Hope this helps :-)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The rate increasing the distance between the trains is 80 + 60 = 140 mph.
Therefore the time under the question is
Time = distance%2Frate = 196%2F140 = 14%2F10 = 7%2F5 hour = 1 2%2F5 hour = 1 hour 24 minutes.
