12 x 40 = 480 miles

Think on it for a moment...if one gallon gets you 40 miles, two gallons gets you twice as far, right? Three gallons gets you three times as far...the word we use is TIMES...
Thus 40 miles per gallon TIMES 12 gallons = 480 miles...
