SOLUTION: Two angles are complementary. The smaller angle is 15°less than one-half the measure of the larger angle. What are the measure of the angles?
Question 1023135: Two angles are complementary. The smaller angle is 15°less than one-half the measure of the larger angle. What are the measure of the angles? Answer by fractalier(6550) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Call the larger angle x. The smaller must be 90-x, since they are complementary. Then we can write
90 - x = (1/2)x - 15
Now add x and add 15 to both sides and get
105 = (3/2)x
Multiply by 2/3 and get
x = 70 degrees...the other must be 20 degrees...
