Question 1022928: The length of a new rectangular playing field is 66 yards longer than triple the width. If the perimeter of the rectangular playing field is 476 yards, what are its dimensions? Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi there,
Make the width = 'x'
Length = 66 + 3x
Perimeter = 2 x Width + 2 x Length
476 = 2(x) + 2(66 + 3x)
476 = 2x + 132 + 6x
Collect like terms.
2x + 6x = 476 - 132
8x = 344
x = 43
Width = 43 yards
Length = 195 yards
Hope this helps :-)
