If the equation of the parabola is y=ax^2+bx+c
then the vertex is at [-b/2a , f(-b/2a)]

The vertex is the turning point of the parabola.

If a>0 the vertex is the minimum point of the graph of the parabola.
If a<0 the vertex is the maximum point of the graph of the parabola.
