Question 1021161: one train leaves the station at 12:00pm. The other train traveling at 12mph slower leaves the station at 1:00pm going the opposite direction. At 3:30pm, the trains are 342 miles apart. Find the speed of each train. Answer by jorel555(1290) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The first train leaves at 12, so it travels for 3.5 hours, the second train travels for 2.5 hours. So
3.5(x)+2.5(x-12)=342
3.5x+2.5x-30=342
6x=372
x=62
The first traing travels at 62 mph, the second train travels at 50 mph!!!!!!!!
